Session 70: Rufus the Unlucky

The group sets off through the mirror to return to Adam’s house and help Barney. Paul discovers the house is booby-trapped, and before the team can identify the cause, Paul, Thea, and Russell fall victim to them, disappearing through the floor to places or dimensions unknown. Luke, agile beyond reasonable human capacity, avoids all the traps, finding and rescuing Adam and disarming the clock portals. As Adam recovers and departs to rally what garou allies he can to their cause, Luke travels to Port Angeles to pick up Barney and continue working the case, his resolve to proceed masking his concern for his missing comrades.

Meanwhile and Elsewhere, Paul, Thea, and Russell adapt with varying degrees of success to their new surroundings, and their newest friend Rufus is eaten by a dragon.

Session 69: A Hen in the Wolfhouse

The cell members deal with Detective Brandenburg in their own ways – some good cops, some bad. In the end, Thea is freed but the assistance of the police is not secured. Returning to Daughter of the Oath to meet Huell, he leads the group in a borrowed ritual from one of Michael’s books. They find their lost comrade waiting near a bell tower in Ballard. Meanwhile, Luke speaks to Barney, who has fled from Adam’s house after an attack on the property. Once again, the group finds themselves with multiple urgent matters to pursue.

Session 68: Parlay

Susan agrees to send Thea in as a negotiator, with a warning that any hostile action will result in SWAT taking over. Russell sends Thea in with a live video feed, doing his best to ensure viewership. Michael releases the hostages, save for Ian, and they have a tense conversation in which Ian reveals that he has somehow taken Evelyn prisoner. Ian blackmails Michael into leaving with him, presumably to work for him in an unknown capacity. Luke joins the SWAT team in searching the church, but Ian and Michael disappear after entering the confessional booth.

Session 67: Behold the Lord High Executioner

The team travels back to Seattle to rescue Michael, discovering once they arrive that it is he who is holding the hostages inside. Paul speaks with Susan, who is uninterested in rescuing him if it will carry any risk to the bystanders. Thea attempts to be allowed inside after finding Dom’s old police contact Mark Brandenburg, but Brandenburg is unconvinced of her value. Russell pulls some trickery with a walkie talkie, gaining the rest of the team access to Susan, and they rejoin their Catholic friend.

Session 66: You Always Hurt the Ones You Love

Thea is reunited with Russell, Paul, and Luke as Ashley reveals to a devastated Pete Boothby that it was only the sacrifice of his son that returned him to the world. The group questions Pete, who can offer them no assistance. Outside, Jade and Wheel Man explain the cause of Luke’s garou confusion – he is not a werewolf, he is a mage like them, held back from his awakening by supernatural means. They depart, promising to help him find his way, as Thea confesses to killing Juliana and asks the group for their help rescuing Michael from his ill-fated meeting with Ian. Sure enough, the meeting has gone sour, as the group overhears on their way home a news story: there is an ongoing hostage crisis at St. James Cathedral.

Session 65: Jailbreak

As Thea searches the place of their disappearance, Russell, Luke, and Paul travel through another world, trying to find a way out. They discover Jade, Wheel Man, Dennis, and Felicia, four mages thought lost to a Paradox realm, and the seven lost souls converge on the location of Pete Boothby, who threatens their lives as they approach. Thea, having found John Valentine and Ashley, Dom’s young sister, takes the pair to Silverdale to Pete’s taxidermy shop to attempt to break the enchantment imprisoning her friends.

Session 63: Recrudescence

The cell takes Norbu to Adam’s house to meet with her friend Michiru. Meanwhile, using the clue delivered by Arianna, they decipher the code Thea acquired in Pete Boothby’s filing cabinet. They translate it and discover a set of instructions that seem to be a process meant for curing the phage. They give a copy of the instructions to Norbu and deliver her back to Seattle to begin her work, sending Ryan and Michiru with her as patients. Once back in Port Angeles, Paul calls John to see if he has ideas for finding Pete and is surprised to find Dom on the other end of the line. With Dom’s help (and a slightly strange set of exchanges), they set up a meeting with Juliana, the mage expert of the mind circle, hoping she can help treat John and Evelyn’s memory loss. Thea stays behind, not wanting to make the mission more complicated or fraught. When the men arrive, they are quickly ambushed by Juliana and Ian, Dom’s brother. Ian throws Dom from the building and out into the sound as Russell, Paul, and Luke hallucinate deadly engulfment and disappear in a crack of lightning. Back at Adam’s house, Thea struggles with the crappy internet connection.

Session 62: Neighbours

After a difficult and largely unproductive interrogation of Michiru, the team heads to Neighbours to meet Dr. Norbu. Paul and Russell are invited in and determine Norbu has been working with Boothby to treat Michiru’s condition. They take her to Daughter of the Oath, where Luke and Thea are following another lead with Arianna, who delivers some sort of message, then fades away into the ether.

Session 61: KonMari

Paul stops Thea’s bleeding and heals her wounds and the team escapes the cemetery with Judith secured. The group returns to Daughter of the Oath, handing off Judith to Mary’s contact. They return home and sleep. In the morning, they discover Arlo’s body outside with Adam underneath. Waking him, they take him inside to recover and catch up. He reluctantly shares his story and agrees to let Luke and Russell accompany him to the grounds where he intends to bury his packmates.

Session 60: Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc

Thea recommends that the group approach Mary for help tracking down their fugitive vampire. Michael offers his service to Mary as a bartering tool, and the group roundly rejects him, so he escapes and makes the offer in person. Following him to haven, the group meets with Mary upstairs at Daughter of the Oath. She speaks with Thea and agrees to help the team locate Judith, rejecting Michael’s offer. An hour later, Thea lays dying on the ground, Russell’s throat slashed, one vampire dead, and Judith captured.

Session 59: Rituale Romanum

The group rescues Adam from the now-flooding NSS building with help from Michael and Maia. While attempting to treat Adam, Paul is nearly possessed, and Russell performs an exorcism to save his friend. Once back at the house, the cell organizes their patients and prisoners and settles in to a well-earned night’s sleep.

Session 58: Acceptable Loss

Before heading downstairs in pursuit of their vampire quarry, Michael makes an offer to the team: capture her alive, and he can trade her to her enemies and potentially heal Evelyn’s broken mind. Russell and Thea seem amenable, but Luke refuses to put his team at risk if capturing her means one of them is badly wounded or killed and Paul agrees. Michael wraps the team up in argument around the topic for minutes, eventually relenting once he realizes that Judith has certainly had enough time to escape. The group leaves him unarmed to escort Evelyn out of the building to safety. The team descends downstairs, discovering Judith’s supernatural experiments, before facing their old boss Richard, now a vampire, whom they dispatch quickly. Further down the long underwater tunnel they encounter Michiru, attempting to escape with a grenade, but disarm it and take her prisoner as Paul and Thea rush down the hallway. They discover that Judith has escaped and the tunnel is flooding, and hurry down to the main vault to discover a gift, left as a peace offering by Judith: Adam Garand, nearly dead.

Session 57: In the Ground

Evelyn falls through a mirror in the basement, and Paul and Thea pursue. Michael, realizing his plan for a convenient way to travel between Adam’s house and bar has gone sideways, calls in supernatural help to locate them. Cassie returns to the house and, under questioning, reveals that she had been paid to keep the cell away from NSS. Michael’s contact reveals the remaining members’ location: the very same location. Michael, Luke, and Russell go after their friends, and the six hunters converge in their old CIC to discover a small Asian woman relaxing and reviewing her research. She runs, hitting a panic button that brings forth a horde of zombies – some of them former coworkers of the team. The cell rescues Evelyn, eliminates the zombies, and regroups as Michael reveals his past with Evelyn: she is his sister, and he wants her back. Somewhere, the audience nods and cocks a gun.

Session 56: CeCe Peniston

The cell speaks through Russell with a returned and weakened Tails, who shares what he remembers about his death and partial resurrection. Thea arrives from the basement without explanation. Luke notices Atlas’s agitation at this story, and as Tails reveals his fate, Atlas attacks! Fighting through confusion and the deadly threat of four wild garou, the cell fights off Arlo, who had been posing as Atlas, and Julia chases an enraged Oswald outside. After a brutal fight, Arlo lies dead on the floor, Julia dead in the yard. The cell regroups, Thea begins an autopsy, and they recover and discuss their discoveries. Maia rejoins the cell in earnest. Paul and Russell go downstairs to comfort Evelyn and reassure Michael, but soon after Michael and Russ return upstairs to help clean up, a shout comes from the basement.

Session 55: Due Process

The cell reaches their hideout at Adam’s former house to discover a large group is already in attendance. The house is overrun with werewolves and wolf-kin, all interested in justice against Paul and Russell. Michael arranges Thea’s escape against her wishes. Barney hears the group’s story to stand in their defense, then is immediately dismissed as Paul and Russell are questioned by Julia directly. She determines the killing of the Get of Fenris member was justified, though questionable, and quickly surmises that Ben’s concerns are due to misunderstanding, not malice. Ben refuses Russell’s story, insisting Russell must have been involved in Two-Tails’s death. As the tangled history of the Children of Gaia becomes clearer to the group, they meet with a few revelations: Ben is Mark (Two-tails)’s son, Mark and Adam brothers, and Ben intends to claim the house as his own. At Julia’s request, Luke invokes Tails’s spirit, but he arrives inside Russell and calls out to the assembled group.

Session 54: Attention Walmart Shoppers

The gang head to the Sequim Walmart to rescue Paul, who has escaped the custody of his werewolf captors. Paul gathers emergency supplies and waits for a tense hour. Upon their arrival, Russell sets off the fire alarm, triggering the sprinklers and killing the lights. Luke does battle with one of the cops, spontaneously growing claws from his fingertips when his life is threatened. Paul finds his way in the dark to his friend and swings at the cop with a homemade silver-studded baseball bat, killing the garou, who reverts to wolf form. The cell runs, fleeing the scene in Luke’s truck, and Luke convinces his grandmother to “adopt” the cell into her pack, assuming both the protection of its members and a responsibility to their way of life.

Session 53: The Handsome One

The group resolves to pursue Dr. Norbu, but upon leaving the house are met with a surprise – police cruisers that quickly subdue and arrest Paul, whisking him away without a second look at the others. Luke, however, literally sniffs out their secret: Paul has been taken by werewolves. The cell weighs their options, makes a few phone calls, and Luke, Russell, and Thea head to the sheriff’s office to try to recover Paul through official channels. Michael appears out of nowhere to help, does his best imitation of a lawyer, fails, and disappears as suddenly as he came. Thea has more luck, convincing the sheriff to let her have a peek at his records, which reveal Paul’s abduction as a case of mistaken identity: they were after Russell. Luke calls Ben, hoping he knows a way to make contact with the garou in their location, and Ben wearily confirms his involvement, suggesting a trade: deliver Russell to him and Paul and Maia will be safely released.

Session 52: The Suburbs

Thea regains consciousness and the group goes to Denny’s to trade stories of Pete’s basement. While Paul and Russell had a relatively safe journey to recover John, Thea and Luke escaped attacks by bats and wolves before ending up encountering Dom’s mother Alexandra in what she described as Pete’s “filing cabinet.” After cursing Thea in anger, she spoke to Luke for a brief period before sending him away. Dom departs suddenly, leaving only a text message in Thea’s phone as his goodbye. The cell travels to Pete’s home to investigate, and after successfully navigating around a protective spell that confuses the team and a drone that is quickly dispatched, they search his house. Among the sad artifacts of his missing wife and son, Thea discovers a voicemail from a heretofore unknown ally of Pete’s: Dr. Tashi Norbu.

Session 51: The Death and Burial of Cock Robin

The cell heads straight to Pete Boothby’s place of work, discovering a trap door in the basement that leads to a confusing experience for Russell and Paul. As they travel great distances searching for John, Juliana meets with Dom, Luke, and Thea upstairs, congratulating them for discovering Pete’s crimes and asking for their help in arranging a meeting between her and John. After some negotiation, Paul and Russell return with a slightly confused John just as Thea and Luke rush into the trap door, disappearing. John speaks telepathically with Juliana and decides to leave with her. Moments later, Luke returns, carrying Thea’s unconscious body.
